A LOT OF crazy things can happen on the course so when Golf Digest describes something as the ‘craziest birdie in golf history’ you sit up and take notice.
On the drivable par-4 17th hole at the Valero Texas Open yetserday, Australian golfer Aaron Baddeley pulled his tee shot into the woods.
However, after taking an unplayable lie, he teed-off again only to hole his next shot from a full 336 yards:
While you’ve probably recorded dozens playing Tiger Woods Golf on your X-Box, Baddeley’s dropped shot means Andrew McGee’s effort in 2001 remains the only official hole-in-one on a par-4 in PGA Tour history.
Speaking after his round Baddeley explained he had no idea his third shot had gone in.
“”I hit it straight and started walking off the tee. All of the sudden everyone in the crowd started going crazy and I was like ‘I think I just made birdie.’ So that was crazy.”
Sadly, no video footage of the shot has emerged as yet.
